Habitat for Humanity Email Fraud Alert

Habitat for Humanity International has been alerted to e-mails circulating which purport to be from an official Habitat for Humanity source offering employment opportunities.

These e-mails have come from the following addresses: careers@habitat.com, habitatrecruits@googlemail.com. habitatrecruits4john@gmail.com, habitatforhumanityvolunteers@gmail.com, and from a “Dr. Paul Foster;” humanresources@habitatcareers.org, initiative.unicef@gmail.com, charitymanage1@gmail.com. Please be aware these e-mails are fraudulent and are not in any way connected to Habitat for Humanity International. If you have received this e-mail, please delete it from your inbox. We are taking every step possible to report this matter to the appropriate authorities.

How can I tell if an email I've received is legitimate?

There are a few things to look for when determining whether or not an email is legitimate.

• Emails from Habitat for Humanity International will originate from a @habitat.org e-mail address.

• Correspondence from Habitat for Humanity International will employ proper spelling and grammar. If you're able to spot multiple spelling and/or grammatical errors within an email, proceed with caution

• In some cases, phishing emails will ask you to visit a malicious website to “apply” for a position. Through this process, these malicious websites can attempt to install key-logging software on your computer. If you are ever asked to visit a website linked within an email, please be extremely cautious and always double-check the destination of the hyperlink.
